Approach to Therapy
Dr. Glover’s approach to therapy is holistic in nature and views mental health in relation to client’s overall health. She practices from an integrative Gestalt, CBT/DBT and feminist perspective. She also utilizes psychological assessments within the therapeutic process. Dr. Glover views mental health concerns from a holistic trauma informed lens. Meaning she conceptually factors in how trauma impacts:
- individual’s self perception
- the body somatic responses (ex. irritability and fatigue)
- perceptions of safety and threat assessment
- interpersonal relationships with partners, coworkers, and family members
- physical, emotional, financial and spiritual health
Dr. Glover also conceptually understands that discrimination, oppression and community trauma can create or exacerbate mental health challenges for BIPOC womxn. Therefore she also incorporates individual/community based strengths and cultural specific coping into therapy. While Dr. Glover uses a trauma informed lens she also sees clients who presenting concerns are not trauma related.
